Another special My Best #11. Current Tolka Rovers player Dean Marshall has picked his My Best #11.
The former League of Ireland wide man played with six league of Ireland sides including Bohemians, Sligo Rovers and UCD.
Marshall has picked the best he has played with over his career and it reads as follows:
Qualify goalkeeper and a top lad. Got us out of some serious holes at times.
Right back-Sean Hardy
Sean and myself on the right side had a great understanding. He was so easy to play with. He made my job very easy , we both loved to attack but he was a very good defender as well. Top player.
Centre half -Gavin Peers
Just a brilliant centre half, unreal header of the ball. He was very vocal and got the best out of everyone. Top class player one of the best I have played with.
Centre half Alan McNally
During my short time at Drogheda United he was a real leader on and off the pitch always giving young lads advice. Commanded his position-brilliant centre half.
Left back- Sean Byrne
I played with Sean at Bohemians under 21s, class left back and a wand of a left foot. He would put it anywhere he wanted to. Top player.
Right wing- Owen Morrison
I’d pick myself in my heyday! If not I would pick Owen Morrison who I played with at Sligo. He had all the ability in the world some of the things he done with a football was out of this world.
Centre Midfield Richie Ryan
Ritchie could read the game so well he knew were you where ever time he got the ball. He had a wand of a left foot too. He was one of the best footballer I’ve played with and doing very well for himself in the States now.
Centre Midfield Joey Ndo
I played with Joey at Sligo Rovers he was different gravy altogether.
Left Wing Darren Meenan
My very good friend who I played with at UCD where we had a great year together. Everything you want in a footballer loved a screamer from 30 yards as well. Went on to to very well for himself with Dundalk.
Centre forward – Rafael Cretero
So fast and sharp he’d make goal out of nothing. Unreal finisher of the ball. Very unselfish as well put a few on the plate for me.
Centre forward- Robbie Benson
I was only coming through at UCD when Robbie was there, but he was top class. Strong, fast and great with the ball at his feet. He also scored some outrageous goals. And has gone on to do very well with Dundalk
A few players I’ve left out- all the lads I played with away in England some of them would of been in there but I wanted to keep it here. Kieran Fitzharris , Matthew West , Keith Ward, Romald Boco all these lads would get in that team and Shane Dolan too.
