A new look Irish Amateur side recorded an impressive friendly victory over Northern Ireland in Dublin last night.
Gerry Davis handed out seven debuts in Frank Cooke Park, but it was some of the recent regulars who registered the important goals.
Eoin Hayes of Newmarket Celtic opened the scoring as early as 14 minutes. Ireland took that lead into the break before another Munster player doubled the score 9 minutes after the second half had begun.
Shane Ryan, who wears the crest of St Michael’s week in week out, gave the home side a cushion.
Newmarket defender Stephen Kelly, a former FAI Junior Player of the Year award winner made it three come set piece time with just under 15 minutes to go.
Adam Beary of North End United fame put the icing on the cake as he finished a chance and the games scoring just three minutes later.
