Munster Junior Cup
Pike Rovers began the defence of the Munster Junior Cup with a brilliant away win on Sunday.
The Champions travelled to Mungret and came away with a five goal win and a place in the second round of a competition they won last year.
Jonathan Hannafin and Eoin Hanrahan were both on the double as The Hoops strolled into the next round.
Pike stalwart Pa Mullins headed home a Wayne O’Donovan corner to give his side the lead.
O’Donovan was creator and chief for the second strike, this time crossing fro debutant Hannafin to find the back of the net.
Hannafin then made it three and ensure his side of a place in the next round with a neat volleyed finish from a ‘Boris’ Hanrahan centre.
Pike were not done there and Hannafin set up Hanrahan for the fourth before ‘Boris’ got his second goal and O’Donovan his third assist right at the death.
The Hoops who now await the winners of Granville vs Charleville in the next round.
