Philip O’Connor scored a wonder strike to help Markievicz register cup success on Sunday.

O’Connor has big final Man of the Match previous having won the award in Liffey Wanderers famous FAI Junior Cup win over Sheriff three seasons ago. Th former St Patricks CY player was in goal as the Pearse Street side won the FAI Intermediate Cup last season.
He was outfield today in the colours of Markievicz and grabbed the head lines again when he lobbed the keeper in sensational fashion in a game his side eventually won via spot kicks.
O’Connor’s strike gave Markievicz the lead, but they were pegged back soon after as Eamon Sheridan headed home.
Limekilin then took the lead on the stroke of half time as Willie Patchell scored his sides second headed effort.
Gregg pounced come goal mouth scramble time and prodded home soon after the restart and the game eventually went to spot kicks, which Markievicz won 4-3.
