LSL Senior Sunday
Killester/ Donnycarney -1
Scored scored a dramatic late double including a last minute winner as Cherry Orchard came from behind to defeat a side fancied to mount a title challenge this year.
The side who didn’t secure victory until round four of last seasons fixtures and were without a home win until November have managed back to back wins, one of which was an away victory, so far this season after dramatic win over Killester/Donnycarney on Wednesday.
Killester took the lead in the 9 minute, but Orchard pulled level on 79 before going on to win it with virtually the last kick of the game.
Killester United, who defeated Swords with a late goal on Friday night, got off to the perfect start on Wednesday and were ahead as early as 9 minutes in.
Calvin Madden did well to buy space in the box before teeing up Sean Rodgers to curl home.
The sides traded chances before the turn the best of which fell to the hosts, only for Mark Harrington to save brilliantly and as a result the net wasn’t found again before half time.
Madden then shot straight at the keeper after good anticipation from John Clancy afforded him a shooting chance on 53.
The lively Madden then had another drive that failed to find net one minute after former Dublin Bus player Yuta Sasaki forced a save from Evan Whelan in the KDFC goal.
Orchard up the tempo after the hour mark, but the hosts seemed to be able to limit the amount of chances they were able to create.
However, with just 11 minutes to go the Ballyfermot side pulled level thanks to a Byrne finish.
The sides then looked set to share the spoils but the visitors and the former Bray front man popped up with the decisive strike right at the death.
