Leinster Senior Cup
Two brilliant Darren Craven free kicks were the difference as Malahide United defeated Crumlin United in the Leinster Senior Cup on Tuesday night.
Craven proved deadly come dead ball time and converted two set pieces to set up a fourth round clash with League Of Ireland opposition.
Malahide will now get the chance to test themselves against fellow black and red side Bohemians in the next round and will welcome Bohs to Gannon Park.
Craven opened the scoring before 10 minutes had past as he managed to find the net after Alex Barry’s run from his own half was deemed to be halted illegally.
The same player made sure the hosts had a two goal cushion with a more impressive strike not around 5 minutes later. This time his freekick left the visiting keeper with not chance.
Former Shelbourne player Ian O’Reilly all but put the nail in the coffin before the turn coming up from the back to score from a corner and push the advantage out further on just 26 minutes.
Crumlin did manage to pull one back, via Daniel Kelly on 65 minutes but it proved too little to late for a side that exited the contest in Richmond Park last season.
