Leinster Junior Cup
Reigning Leinster Junior Cup champions Collinstown started this years instalment like they ended last seasons, winning.
Corduff’s Saturday side certainly didn’t bring the challenge that Sheriff did in the May decider, but nonetheless Collinstown got their defence off to a positive start.
The Intermediate football hopefuls got the job done early and had a place in round two secured before half time.
Mikey Griffin opened the scoring as he showed good instincts to pounce on a spilled Ger Shortt shot to tap home after about 20 minutes.
Shortt then added to his impressive early season tally when he won and converted a spot kick to make it two just five minutes.
Ian McNeill then broke the offside trap to score his sides third and give them a three goal cushion by the break.
With a place in the next round all but guaranteed the visitors played within themselves after the turn and a fairly uneventful second half meant no more second half goal.
