AUL Nivea Cup Last 16
Rivervalley Rangers – 4
Kippure – 0
AUL Premier A side Rivervalley Rangers comfortably dispatched Premier C side Kippure to advance to the Quarter-Final of the Nivea Cup at the AUL Complex on Friday night.
Talisman Ronan Murtagh opened the scoring on twenty minutes when he rifled home a volley from a difficult angle following a Paul Currivan flick-on to the back post.
The second-half began with a bang as Rangers doubled their advantage through a Karl Young wonder goal. Kippure’s keeper was forced to punch a high ball away from goal and it fell to Young who cracked a thirty-yard half volley which flew into the net.
Kippure were handed a brilliant opportunity to get back into the game when they were awarded a penalty, however, the resulting kick fell wide of the mark.
Murtagh then added his second and Rivervalley’s third when he capitalised on a poor defensive error before slotting the ball beneath the keeper.
In the dying minutes The Valley completed the scoring and sealed their progression when John O’Donoghue scored from close range after a Murtagh free-kick was parried.
