Firhouse Clover returned to winning ways and got league revenge over Leixilip in Tallaght on Sunday morning.
Clover went into the only Senoir Sunday, Sunday morning clash on the back of two league defeats the first of which came out in Kildare against Leixlip, but stopped the min rot with a fine display.
The IT Tallaght residents hit three goals to register a sixth win of the season and move to within one win of second spot, taking up sixth place in a tight top half.
The in form Darren Forsyth opened the scoring after just a minute from a corner and Firhouse went on to dominate the half.
However, despite creating chances to put the game to bed they went in just one ahead at the break. The visitors had some fine saves to thank for still being in contention the away net minder’s two stops after Rory O’Connor efforts standing out.
Leixlip were more competitive after the turn and were certainly in result contention, but O’Connor finally got his goals late on to ensure a hard fought three points for the hosts.
The former Junior International with a bullet header from a Carl Forsyth cross with 15 to go and a finish after a Michael McLaughlin through ball with just five left.
