It might not be the most glamorous of the Summer signings, but the capture of Noel Murray by St Mochtas might just be THE signing of the window.
The side whose Senior Sunday title defense went horrifically wrong last season have added to an already quality packed squad over the close season.
In the gate at Porterstown have come Kenny Carr, Eoin Murray, Glenn Shannon, Michael Daly, Craig Hyland, but there will be amateur football fans who argue the signing of Murray from Crumlin could prove crucial in them challenging for Senior Sunday silverware again .
Considering Brian McCarthy’s side conceded 41 goals to champions Bluebell’s 19 last term and respected and solid defender would always be welcome.
However, Murray brings a lot more to the table than just no nonsense rear guard action.
The former Tolka Rovers and Crumlin United defender is a natural leader and has captain Crumlin and Tolka at different stages. The Regions Cup winner, who is deemed one of the best amateur defenders in the country not just the LSL, is also capable with the ball at his feet and is a goal threat come set piece time both in the area or standing over frees.
