Crumlin United 5
Kilnamanagh AFC 1
Crumlin United produced a five star second half display to progress to the second round of the Metro Cup on Tuesday night.
The Senior Sunday’s opponents were alive and kicking going into the break, but Crumlin turned on the style to and eventually killed off Kilnamangh’s hopes of progressing.
Indeed, Martin Loughran’s men hit five second half goals to end up one sided winners.
The first half was a tight affair with Kilnamanagh holding Crumlin at bay and a solid visiting defensive display meant the first half ended scoreless.
Crumlin stepped up a gear in the second half with some impressive approach play and broke the deadlock early on.
Craig Walsh benefited from a good passing move, rounded the keeper and pulled the ball back for winger Curtis Murphy to break the deadlock.
It wasn’t long before Crumlin doubled their lead this time Walsh found the back of the net himself after breaking through on goal.
Plucky Kilnamanagh pulled one back soon after, but David Vickery restored the two goal cushion via a fine finish.
A brilliant Jake Donnelly free kick all but made sure for the hosts before the front man lifted the ball over the keeper for his second and his sides fifth.
