Former UCD, Shamrock Rovers and Bohemains player Terry Palmer has been confirmed as the new manger of Maladhide United.
The Gannon Park side and the management team of Pierce Walsh and Paul Usher parted ways at the end of the season just gone after the duo enjoyed a relatively successful two and a half year stint at the club.
The side, who just pulled away from relegation at the tail end of last season, but finished fourth the year previous, have now confirmed Palmer as the new first team manager.
Plamer played over 350 games in the League Of Ireland before he retired in 2005, but probably more importantly for Malahide he has knowledge of the club, amateur coaching experience and has worked with with some of the current first team squad previously.
The coach, who played in the Inter Toto Cup with Rovers, has been part of coaching set ups in Drumcondra and Glebe North, plus as manager of Malahide’s United 15 side has worked with some of the young talent currently populating the first team squad.
It has yet to be confirmed who will make up Palmer’s backroom team.
