AUL Premier A
St Pauls Artane – 0
Sheriff YC – 4
There was no FAI Junior Cup hangover for Sheriff YC as they retained their AUL Premier A title just two days after losing at the Aviva Stadium against Liffey Wanderers in the FAI Junior Cup final.
Sheriff returned to their ruthless best on Tuesday evening, putting four past nearest challengers St Pauls to claim the title after the only other team capable of catching them – Collinstown lost at home to Kilbarrack.
The title win is Sheriff’s fifth in a row, their sixth in seven years and will go some way to make up for the loss at the Aviva on Sunday.
Sheriff opened the scoring just before the break with FAI Junior International Player of the Year Darren Dunne slotting home.
Dunne doubled Sheriff’s advantage soon after the turn before his Amateur International colleague Kevin Lynch added the third.
Sheriff had Paul Murphy sent off late on before Lynch sealed the win with his second and Sheriff’s fourth of the game just before the 90 was up to claim the title for Alan Reilly’s men.
There will be little rest for the Inner City Dublin outfit as they compete in the Leinster Junior Cup final against Collinstown in the Tallaght Stadium this coming Sunday.
