FAI Intermediate Cup Fourth Round
Cobh Wanderers – 1
Killester United – 0
Cobh Wanderers edged Killester United by a single goal in a highly-competitive FAI Intermediate Cup Fourth Round affair to advance to the Quarter-Finals at Old Church Park on Saturday afternoon.
The goal came just ten minutes into the contest as Dave Curran stroked home to grab what would ultimately decide the game.
Killester pushed Cobh all the way in desperate search of an equalizer and ensured Michael Devine had to be at his best in between the Cobh sticks as he made a number of impressive stops.
Ian Stapleton almost doubled Cobh’s lead after a quick counter-attack only for a superb Ciaran Bizzell save with five minutes to play.
In injury-time United had the ball in the net, however, they were left heartbroken when the referee blew up for a foul and awarded Wanderers a free-kick out.
Cobh saw out the remaining minutes and sealed their place in the last eight of the FAI Intermediate Cup.
