LSL Major Sunday
Ger Shortt ruined the St Francis party and ensured Collinstown were celebrating a first ever Major Sunday side on Tuesday night.
The former Clondalkin Celtic player settled the second of Tuesday night’s Clondlakin derbies in favour of the Leinster Junior Champions with an impressive opening day treble.
The clash was Francis first back in the LSL after a year sabbatical, but the side playing in only their second season in the league laid down an early marker thanks to the direct and pacey front mans hat trick.
Shortt got his sides and his first midway through the first half with a neat finish to ensure the home side a lead at the break.
The striker put two between the sides around the 55 minute mark when he latched onto a poor back pass rounded the keeper and rolled home.
Francis did pull one back with around 20 minutes to go via the spot, but Shortt rounded of his hat trick just 10 minutes later as Collinstown got off to a winning start.
