FAI Junior Cup
Clonmel Town where one of the biggest winners in the largest cup competition in Europe over the weekend.
The TSDL top flight side progressed to Round 3 of the FAI Junior Cup hitting nine goals without reply against second tier side Slieveardagh on Sunday morning.
With Town having endured a tough start to the league-one win in four games- and Slieveardagh at the top end of the the first division their were some hinting at a possible upset.
However Clonmel produced a brilliant cup performance and all but had the game wrapped up by half time.
It took all of just four minutes for Town to get off the mark, as Craig Guiry fired home Dylan Walsh’s cut back to open the scoring.
Another Guiry doubled the advantage soon after as Keith headed home Craig’s header back across goal on 12 minutes.
Within two minutes Town had one foot in the third round as Dylan Walsh fired home a free kick he won to make it three.
Three became four on the half hour mark, Conor O’Sullivan reacted first to Stephen Kelly’s shot coming back off the post to score.
‘Sully’ showed great reactions again as he pounced on a blocked shot six minutes shy of the break to score his second, giving Town a five goal half time lead in the process.
Keith Cashman got in on the act after the turn, scoring come corner time before O’Sullivan completed his hat trick with 21 minutes remaining.
Dylan Guiry then made it eight before Evan Evan McGuire completed the nine goal rout.
