Dublin District Schoolboy League clubs last night voted for a move to Summer football.
The motion was debated passionately at a full AGM before being passed after more than two thirds of those in attendance gave their approval to the change.
The schoolboy season will run parallel to the League of Ireland calendar, which runs from March to October.
The new season time will take affect from March 2017. The move follows recommendations from the Football Association of Ireland’s High Performance Director Ruud Dokter.
There were growing calls for the switch to be made with inclement weather and unplayable pitches disrupting large parts of the season during the winter months.
