It’s was just about a case of cometh the hour cometh the man, for Eastwall Bessborough on Friday night.
18 year old Calvin Douglas was their hero out in Clontarf as his debut strike for the club put them on course for a much needed win.
Eastwall won by two in the end but Douglas strike came at a crucial moment and helped the Inner City side bank their second three points of the season with victory over impressive starters Ayrfield.
Ayrfield have started the new term in impressive fashion, although they look on course for a three point deduction along with Sheriff and Kilbarrack. They visitors were in the game for large parts and at one stage ‘Wall looked on course to register a fourth draw of the campaign.
However, Douglas popped up with a 30 yard strike, producing a moment of brilliance to give the hosts the lead on the hour.
It remained that way until the dying minutes when Austin Skelly and Tony Kane elected against wasting time in the corner and Kane put Skelly through on goal. The 36 year old was fouled in the box and picked himself up to score from 12 yards to double the advantage in a game that saw 38 year old Philly White, who was recently named clubman of the year after playin for all three sides in the club, register a clean sheet.
