Myafield United have appointed a former underage coach to the role as first team manager ahead of the 2018/19 season.
Keith Buckley has taken over from ‘temporary manager’ Anthony Wolfe as coach of The Munster Senior League side.
Wolfe will continue as a player at the top flight side, but Buckley will now take the coaching reigns.
Buckley has previous with the club having managed their under 19 outfit to Premier Division title success in recent years.
The club confirmed the appointment via the following statement.
“The committee of Mayfield Utd would like to wish Keith Buckley all the best for the season ahead in his new role as our senior manager.
Keith managed our 19s to the premier division title a few years ago and had a very successful playing career including a youth career at Cobh & trials at Gillingham following by many years in the senior-league.We are very confident that Keith’s experiences as a player & coach will ensure successful times ahead for our young & very talented squad.
We want to also take the opportunity to thank Anthony Wolfe for the job he did last season..it was always a temporary role Anthony wanted & while he’s stepped down as a manager we are delighted that he’s staying at the club as a player.
Keith has appointed a very experienced management team around him.Pat “Bozo” Bozynski a club legend returns as a coach as does Dermy Ryan.Dermy was part of a league winning management team in Avondale and brings huge experience as a player & coach.A new addition to our management team is Keith Baker.Keith was manager last season of Firhouse Clover who finished 4th in the Leinster senior league & who were beaten in extra time in the FAI intermediate cup final.Keith joins as coach and is a fantastic addition to the club.
The lads have also been busy adding to our squad with some exciting additions already signed & a few more on the way.Squad announcements will follow shortly. At this point we are very confident of keeping virtually all of last years squad.Chris Hull has moved to Cobh Ramblers & while we never like to lose anyone it’s great to see players move to the next level & we had no doubt Chris will be very successful at Cobh.”
