FAI joy for Limerick clubs
The 2 limerick clubs will be delighted with the FAI draw for the quarter finals. With Kilbarrack and Sherriff drawing each other it will certainly add to both clubs chances. Pike are bound to be happy with another home draw(they haven’t had to leave limerick so far in the competition) and this makes them favourites for the competition in my opinion. Janesboro will also be happy making the short trip to Clare to face Newmarket Celtic. Both of those teams are down to play in the Munster champions trophy final and both teams are still in the Munster junior cup aswell so it promises to be a great tie. (Anon)
Eastwallbessborough looking good!
How good have eastwall been as of late? Can see them doing well they have some good players. Can’t name any though 😂 (Anon)
Soccer in the sunshine!
It has to be time we made the move to Summer football. It has gone beyond a joke at this stage. We have not had a competitive game of football since November here in Limerick. I have a pain in my hole with it.
Of course you will get all the arguments about losing players to the GAA, but so what? If lads want to play GAA let them! If they want to play football more they will. Its simple really. Plus it will be great for the kids to be able to play on decent pitches week in, week out.
Its time for the FAI just to come out and implement it, and stop all the pissing about! (Wayne – Limerick)
Oscar Traynor Trophy – The secret trophy
Lads what is the story with the Oscar Traynor Cup? You can never find any info on draws, fixtures or results anywhere on the FAI website. You also seem to have very little on the JSP. Why does this competition not get the coverage it deserves? (Harry – Donegal)
FAI Junior Cup is Limerick bound… apparently..
The FAI Junior Cup is coming to Limerick this year boys and if I was a betting man I would say Pike will be the champions again.
The draw worked out well for the Limerick sides – two handy games! Both the Boro and Pike will be in the semis and if they avoid each other I wouldn’t be surprised to see an all Limerick final. From what I have seen of Sheriff the past two years they are not the side they were anymore and are certainly beatable!
See ye at the Aviva lads! Keep up the good work ! (Robert – Limerick)
A question for AUL people
Can anyone tell me what the story is with the AUL committee. Its the same faces there every year with the same crew running the show for years now. Is there not supposed to be elections every year. The way I see it its like a dictatorship, with the same faces in power all the time. That can’t be healthy for the league as a whole surely. (Paul – Dublin)
The Kilbarrack Vs Sheriff debate begins in earnest
Kilbarrack Vs Sheriff in the FAI Junior. I’m fu**ing delighted. Revenge will be so sweet. I honestly think Kilbarrack will do them at home and it will be the defeat that finally sees this Sheriff team break up at the end of the year. After losing in the FAI Junior Cup three years in a row the Sheriff lads wont be interested any more. It is boring for them every year winning every game in the Premier A and if they can’t win the FAI this year (which they wont) I can see them all going their separate ways.
Its Kilbarrack’s year lads. They have a top side this year and I can feel it in my waters, we will be champions this year! (Mick – Kilbarrack)
A good natured reader
I was disappointed to see that the JSP could be going to the wall if your fund raising thing that yiz put out this week is true. I have always been a fan of the site right from the start and I think its the best thing to happen to junior ball in this country. Its a pity yiz were not around when I was playing coz I know myself and the lads I played with would have loved the coverage as I know today’s players do.
I threw in a little donation to the fund to get it going, its not much but to be honest its all I can afford.
I wish you all the best and hope to see the site grow and stay keeping us up to date with everything. (Paul – Dublin)
The Clare League in the JSP spotlight
Great to see the Clare League getting the coverage on your site. Its been long overdue!
I see Oliver Fitzpatrick is sending you on his stuff. Fair play to him. He does great work for the league and his reports and photos from games are always great.
By the way lads. Watch out for Newmarket Celtic this year in the FAI. I know nobody is giving them a chance but they are a top team and I fancy them to beat Janesboro and once you are in the last four anything can happen. (Nigel – Clare)
I was just looking at the fixtures there for this weekend and I noticed there are teams in who have no fixture. WTF? Isn’t it the same every year where teams have to play 3-4 games a week to finish the league yet in February there is a weekend where they have no fixture.
In some divisions I noticed that there were a few teams ‘idle’. I don’t get it at all. Can someone please explain the thinking behind that. Is it just bad scheduling from he fixtures man? (Ryan – Dublin)
Some JSP love from Australia
I just seen that you’s are starting to fund raise. I hope you’s keep going because you’re a great site for all expats living in Oz. We’re big followers of junior football and it’d be shame not to have a site like yours to keep us posted. Keep up the good work. (Loyal Sheriff Fan – Australia)
Not Dunne Yet
Stewy Glenn one to watch out for in the Sheriff Team? Come on Darren Dunne is the man. He hasn’t been as exceptional this season as last or the ones before, but it’s hard to be that good all of the time.
I’ll admit Stewy has been a great addition to the squad and has got more goals than Keith Dunne, but Wacker is the man and will be central if Sheriff are to win the FAI Junior Cup. (Anto Northside Dublin)
Tie Of The Round Robing Us!
It was always going to happen wasn’t it. I get the excitement surrounding Kilbarrack versus Sheriff in the quarters, but it was the glamour final wasn’t it. Like most I look forward it, but I am gutted as I wanted them to meet in the final. I think Sheriff pip it by the way winning by a 90th min pen. (Anom)
Praying for Rivervalley or Glengad
It’s great to see that either Rivervalley or Glengad will be in the semi finals of the FAI Junior. However, I think the winners of the other finals will going to mass leading up to the semi draw praying they draw the winner of that clash. (Thomas Limerick)
LSL v AUL debut made via FAI Junior Cup?
If Sheriff don’t win the FAI Junior Cup with ease this year it just proves they would struggle in the LSL top flight. Any of the bottom end Senior Sunday’s would beat all the remaining quarter finalists with ease, FACT!
Liffey Wanderers was a great fairy tale story, but if one of the outsiders win it again it shows Sheriff are not up to it. (Anom)
Greystones feeling pink.
What a win for Greystones. After beating Crumlin they have proved they have what it takes to stay up. That’s all I have to say. (George, Dublin)
