Sheriff YC have brought back one of their most decorated players to the fold.
Former Everton youth and League of Ireland nomad John Lester moved from the reigning FAI Junior Cup champions to Senior Sunday side Greystones over the Summer, but returns ‘home’ after signing for his old club this week.
The midfielder had a six seasons love affair with supporters of the Inner City side before his brief exit and it seems it will be rekindled moving forward. Over those six years Lester managed to pick up 25 trophies including six league titles and four FAI Junior Cups- he will be hoping to add to that tally over this season.
Lester was nigh on ever present this term and not doubt Alan Reilly and no doubt will be welcomed back with open arms.
Such is the talent at the decorated managers disposal that it would be impossible to highlight the first name on his team sheet, but it was clear Lester wasn’t just a stand out footballer, but key to Sheriff’s tactical approach.
Sheriff haven’t started too badly without the midfielder- they remain unbeaten in all competitions so far this term-but his addition will prove a boost ahead of what is always a fixture heavy season.
