FAI Intermediate Cup
Liffey Wanderers proved their goal scoring prowess as they progressed to the second round of the FAI Intermediate Cup on Friday night.
Three front shared six goals equally as the surprise 2017/17 winners progressed past Senior 1A side Arklow Town into the next round.
Lee and Aiden Roche hit doubles as did fellow former LOI front man Shane ‘Mario’ Dolan as Wanderers shone under lights.
Senior Sunday winner with Crumlin as well as FAI Junior and Intermediate Cup winner with Wanderers Lee Roche broke the deadlock on 35 minutes.
The attacker fired home a trade mark free kick to give the top flight side the lead going into the break.
The Pearse Street side doubled their advantage soon after the restart and Roche was the name on the scorecard again, this time Aidan Roche found the back of the net.
The lively attacker put John Young charges into progression pole as he finished into the top corner left footed.
Lee Roche then showed why he is deadly over the deadball with his second before Dolan scored his first goal for the club.
Mario then made it five with his second of the night and second in the blue of Wanderers from the spot.
Not to be out done Aidan Roche got in on the double act firing in off the crossbar to make it six.
Arklow did manage late consolation, but the result was never in doubt.
