LSL Senior Sunday
Crumlin Utd- 3
Leixlip Utd -0
Crumlin United were the big winners on Sunday.
Not only did the Armagh Road residents claim victory over Leixlip but they did so just hours after both St Mochtas and Bluebell United had dropped points.
Craig Walsh was their goal scoring hero bagging a brace as they defeated newly promoted Leixlip at home.
Defender Noel Murray set the hosts on their way with a cool side footed volley from a set piece that sneaked into the bottom corner.
That goal is all that separated the top flight sides at the break, but Crumlin really asserted dominance after the turn.
Midway through the half they got just reward as former Inchicore midfielder Walsh finished to double the advantage.
Crumlin continued to push for a a third but Leixlip earned a chance to get back into the game when David Meehan was adjudged to have fouled in the area.
The keeper, who has had his troubles with injury of late and this season has watched Mikey Quinn produce numerous spot kick heroics from the bench, made amends with a fine one handed save from the resulting penalty and then shortly after produced a wonderful acrobatic save to deny Leixlip when he reached high to tip a long range shot over the bar.
Crumlin broke away in the closing minutes and Craig Walsh slotted in his second of the game and ensure no route back for the Kildare side.
