LSL Senior Sunday
Luke Walsh made a welcome return from injury for Firhouse Clover on Sunday morning.
The inspirational defender ended six weeks of frustration with a vital goal for the Tallaght side as they edged a tight and tense Senior Sunday encounter with Bangor Celtic.
Walsh, who has goal scoring previous for the back, came off the bench to finish brilliantly late on and secure his side all three points.
The win saw Clover, who battled relegation last season, move up as high as second temporarily- Mochtas replaced them with victory over Crumlin in the afternoon- and continue a relatively positive start to the season.
Although the scoreline may suggest otherwise the tie was quite entertaining with both teams keen on attacking.
Bangor shaded first half proceedings, but the game remained scoreless at the break. The second half saw Clover just shade things, but both teams looked threatening on occasions.
A draw began to look likely, but Walsh had other ideas and made the ultimate impact after his introduction and scored what proved to be the winner.
Bangor did push for an equaliser late on, but Firhouse defended well and managed to keep their third clean sheet in a row.
