LSL Senior 1
Liffey Wanderers -3
Home Farm -1
Liffey Wanderers won an early top of the table clash to lay down an early Senior 1 marker on Wednesday night.
No doubt it’s too early to look at the league standings, but second tier new boys and serial promotion winners manged to defeat an established Senior 1 and indeed form side Home Farm to hit the front early.
The positive start suggests Wanderers could be one to watch in a competitive division and definitely intimates the promoted side have will be looking to secure promotion rather than consolidation.
John Young’s side took an early lead and Lee Roche found the back of the net. The front man made it three league goals in two league games thanks to a well executed free kick after just seven minutes.
Within four minutes the FAI Intermediate champs were two up on the Tommy Clements finalists. This time Dean Gannon fired home registering his first league goal for the club on 11 minutes.
A good Home Farm side did pull one back as a defender headed home at the back post to half the deficit.
However, Gavin O’Toole made sure with just 9 minutes to go as he burst through and finished with a cool head.
