FAI Junior Cup
A goal just two minutes in was enough to see Clonmel Celtic progress to the last 64 of the FAI Junior Cup.
Celtic have a spot in the Fifth Round of the FAI Junior to look forward to after they defeated Tipp North and South District League leaders Tullamore over the weekend.
The hosts got off to a perfect start and were a goal up before 3 minutes had past. Evan McGuire sent in a brilliant cross which Kevin Waters headed home.
Clonmel threatened to double the advantage soon after via Johnny Cagney but the player failed to find the target from close range.
Thurles did grow into the tie, but Clonmel continued to look the more likely over the remainder of the half.
Celtic survived the period of pressure and finished well with chances from Cian O’Sullivan and Seanie O’Hara.
However neither side could find the net in the closing stages and it was Clonmel Celtic who progressed to the Open Draw.
